If yesterday's dominant sentiment was "I am never going to finish my PhD", today's dominant sentiment is "I am not going to make it home this Christmas". I had plans to work furiously on my PHD today, but after the news that India is going to bring in airport PCR tests and 7-day quarantine, it knocked the air out of me. This was suposed to be the period when I start counting down towards departure date ith rising excitement. Now, its just going to be succession of anxieties until or if I make it home. Borders can be closed within a day's notice. Maybe I should have travelled during the summer instead of trying to finish my PhD, considering how swimmingly well that is going.
