Dark Humour

Yesterday, two posts about India, one on Facebook and one on Twitter made me crack up. A doubly mutant variant of Covid is ripping through India, which has me worried for friends and family, just as Covid seems to have been quelled in the UK. However, there is a twist to the tale, because Boris Johnson is refusing to ban flights from India to keep his trade deal with India afloat. At times like these, I try to find respite in dark humour. Dark humour is an affirmation of life amid tragedy. Even the tragic can be rendered funny if only for a few moments. A dark humour is only meant to provide momentary respite. If you find humour in tragedy all the time you are either a psychopath or a madman. But, even momentary distractions are powerful. Humour is as much a human emotion as anything else..
